I’m Not Sick, Anxious, or Scared!

The Bible says we are not ignorant of the enemy’s tactics. Yet many Christians fail in this area because they simply do not recognize the works of the enemy or they are too distracted to learn how to actually fight against him. Even worse are those who know how to fight and for whatever reason they just don’t resist him or his attacks on our bodies and minds!

This will be a slightly longer than normal post. I encourage you to read it all for yourself and others. We have to begin to rise up and take a stand against the lies of the enemy.

This will be a very quick and basic overview of what, why, where and how to take authority everyday against the enemy. This is by no means all encompassing, nor is it meant to be. The Bible says “Study to show yourself approved and an approved workman/woman need not be ashamed!” You do not have to be destroyed because of a lack of knowledge. There is plenty of great info, starting with the BIBLE (lol, #obvi), on this subject. So let’s dive in!

1st: There is a real demonic enemy. He and his cronies exist in the very fabric this world is made of, the spirit world! This is where I lose some people when talking about the spirit world. But, I have personally seen and encountered it, in many forms and fashions, from seeing it literally manifest into a dark humanoid apparition, some would call a ghost, to its/their negative effects on us humans! Most of the times I saw these things I was not alone so others have seen them as well.

If you don’t believe this and you’re a Christian, you seriously just set yourself up for failure in any arena that requires faith for deliverance and healing. This is very real and this is precisely why Jesus came! He came to destroy the works of the devil. How did He do that?He healed the sick and He cast out demons! And what did He train His disciples, who became apostles, to do? Answer: heal the sick and cast out demons. And what do you think they (the apostles) taught those who came after them? What did the apostles teach their converts? Answer: to heal the sick and cast out devils! There is plenty else to learn, study and ponder about this conceptually. But a huge part of it, in its most practical form, is to identify what are the works of the enemy and how to fight them. That starts with believing the devil is real and he is a real threat to all those who don’t know the promises of God for themselves first and others second.

2nd: You must believe you have authority over the enemy and all his works. You must study to show yourself approved and that starts with reading the word of God. There you will find- if you read it and take it simply, like a little child at face value- that it is very plain who the enemy is, what he tries to do to humans, and what Jesus was doing to fight, fix, and repair the problems it caused in people! You need to know that Jesus loves you and He is the revealed will of the Father and you need to see that as He operated in the Father’s will, He healed all who were oppressed. He gave us VERY PRECIOUS promises that we can exercise, with authority, today in our lives and the lives of others. Jesus showed us that the effectiveness and operation of those promises is based on our knowledge and trust (faith) that He (Father/Son/Spirit) wants to do it in and through us by Jesus name as well! Just like JESUS SAID.

3rd: You must fight- that means thinking, speaking, and acting against the enemies attacks on your life or the lives of those God puts in your sphere of influence. It’s not enough to just know that you should resist- you MUST resist in word and deed! How you ask? First, in your own life and thoughts, as you build up your knowledge of what God’s will is in the area you need a miracle and you embrace His kingdom mindset and plan. Second, you must begin to let that come out in your speaking and actions!

I don’t let aches and pains just have their way with me, OR MY FAMILY! I don’t let thoughts and feelings of anxiety and depression just dwell in my heart and mind. I don’t just accept “those are mine”. I don’t say/speak/declare I have a cold or flu or sickness of any kind. I don’t let my words acknowledge I own sickness or mental problems as my own. You see I don’t HAVE a cold or flu or anxiety etc, and I don’t OWN any of those things. I may be battling it, or it may be attacking me, but I DO NOT own it!

Some people think that is dumb but we rarely get sick and when we do, it rarely stays long. And I have had numerous mini-miracles where aches and pains come and I pray against them and they leave immediately! So many Christians go around speaking I have this and that (even CANCER) etc, because they have owned it. I cringe when I hear them say it like that, like they have accepted it as their own. I don’t cringe in a judgmental or critical way but in a I feel bad because they don’t know way.

Even the medical world knows the importance of speaking like this. Terminology is important, the Bible says the power of life and death are in the tongue. When fighting sickness or cancer etc, it is important that you declare it’s a battle, an attack! That falls right in line with what Jesus revealed was the will of God for us. He came and showed us sickness is of the devil in all its forms and fashions and if Jesus was here and you had any kind of ailment and went to Him for it... HE’D HEAL YOU of it!

The words says He’s no respecter of persons, and He healed ALL who came to Him, WHO HAD FAITH, trust and belief He would and could. The apostles taught and exercised that as well! Heck even scary movie titles reveal it; “EXORCIST”.  What do you think that means: exorcism/exercise/ practice- to exercise your authority in the name of Christ over ALL the works of the enemy!

The devil wants you to think it’s only about major demon possession but it is as simple as rebuking a headache or foot cramp you’re dealing with or for someone else you meet struggling with things like that. So number three is DO SOMETHING! Do something in line with God’s word and in Jesus name- exercise your rights in Him! You have the right!

Don’t let the world dictate what you can and should do, of course the enemy wants you to be afraid to do it and speak it. IT’S DESTROYING HIS WORKS AND PLANS so of course he wants you powerless and afraid! So “cast down” thoughts and mental attacks that come against you. Speak against them and lay hands on the sick,- even yourself- and declare healing in Jesus name. Be bold- that is  how you see results.

4th: Patience and timing. So many stop here, they try it once and it doesn’t work instantly, or they encounter a battle that takes longer than they thought is should and they let their faith fall. It’s a battle folks. Sometimes it happens instantly, sometimes it takes a day or two or a week/s, sometimes it takes months and years!

There is always mystery to God and we are working from an imperfect platform, speaking of our own selves but faith has to be tried and tested to be grown and God allows us to be tested as well to grow us.

It takes time for babies to learn to walk and soldiers go through boot camp and years of continual training. Special forces were once great soldiers who have become elite fighters amongst all their peers! And some of those are the best in the world at what they do. Your probably not casting out demons folks, lol! You don’t need spec ops spiritual skills right now.

But, do you get headaches? Or are you prone to sickness? Have you had any major ailments or mental attacks? Well lay hands on yourself and declare your self healed and delivered IN JESUS NAME. Do you suffer from anxiety? Start speaking out loud “these are not my feelings and I don’t want them, God would not want them on me, so they are of the enemy. I take authority over these attacks in Jesus name and command them to go now and never return to me, or anyone in my family.” Keep declaring this and don’t stop until it goes, no matter how long it takes, see yourself free from it, and after you’ve had healing and if it tries to return, do it again! Stand your ground. This is war!

And, if some of these ailments come from an emotional wound you received in childhood or somewhere in life, ask the Lord to reveal it so He can heal it. Do the work necessary to get your healing and it will come. There are ministries who specialize in inner healing and it isn’t kooky or weird. It helps you process and heal your past which in turn heals many physical and ailments that you may be facing today! We all have stuff from our past and it’s okay to get help processing it. The thing with inner healing is that it helps uncover those things that we are not even conscious of even more because of the minds natural defenses. It works. Jesus helps and He heals.

It will be a fight and it may leave and return. It may be a battle that you have to persist in for as long as necessary declaring the works of Jesus and the will of God the Father- your Father!!

My grandmother was laying in bed DYING at the death ward of a hospital. She had an incurable disease and she was in final stages of life swollen and on life support. She had a tracheotomy in her throat with a ventilator. Through prayer (this is the quick version) she was healed and raised up off the death bed! The nurses all were crying saying “it’s a miracle”. They had not seen anything like that before I’m sure!People who came in their left for the morgue but she did not! She left and went to shop the rummage sales- one of her favorite things to do. They had a going home party for her, not her “home in heaven” but her earthly home with us all, her family! People, listen, you need to get this. Sometimes it’s a battle and you gotta go right up to the fiery furnace and maybe even into it declaring the will and ability of the Father in Jesus name!

Sometimes we have done all we feel we can, confessing and acting in faith, yet it seems we are just getting worse and the devil sends stupid ignorant people to us, that say there was so and so who died declaring faith, you better stop! I laugh at that! I will never stop- God has healed me so many times and I have seen so many miracles even if sickness was overtaking me I would know it’s not God’s failure or fault. I would not say I must have been wrong to follow God or believe it’s His will for me and others to always be healed...  NO NEVER!

Jesus said to pray the Fathers will be done on earth as it is in heaven. There’s no sickness in heaven or depression or suicidal thoughts or addictions or perversions. Come on people! I don’t understand it all, God is mysterious but I understand enough to know His revealed will for many things and I trust Him with the rest. If I hadn’t stood my ground I would not have seen so much and for me, He is true and anything that goes against that is a lie!

We need to let faith and courage in HIM overtake us. Our God is well able to save us but even if He doesn’t we will still declare His will and truth. For His word is true and all else is false! His word says let God be true and all others be a liar.

So many will argue with me and debate these things, like they did Jesus, Who Himself said “I’m numbered with the transgressors”. Who are the transgressors? They are those that do not fit the “church world” model. Those who think healing and deliverance has been done away with. Or that the “age” we live in is the age of such and such. I just have to laugh, when I look at them and I hear the spirit saying to me “unless you become as a little child, you can in no way enter the kingdom of heaven!” He loves the little children and He said “let the children come”, childlike faith. He said it so I believe it!

I’m sorry for those of you who tried it and it “didn’t work” but you have wrongly stopped, and it wasn’t Gods fault that it didn’t work. We live in a fallen world and sadly so many have twisted and tangled the world with human intellect and knowledge that it has no faith left in it and they wonder why it doesn’t work.

Those who come to Him must believe He is who He says He is and without faith it is impossible to please God. Jesus said at one time to those who were his “oh ye of little faith” because they had seen the miracles He’d done and gotten afraid and doubtful and let fear cause them to react in ways that were not faithful. And He said of another “oh ye of great faith I’ve not seen such great faith in all of Israel.” He said that about a Roman soldier who UNDERSTOOD AUTHORITY!

So, while this has been a long article, it is really just a short snipet of the revealed truth of God for this area. I hope it inspires you and that you rise up and start to walk in your faith and authority and begin a journey to gain wisdom and knowledge of God’s will in this area. I hope you begin to read the Bible and I suggest starting with the New Testament first... and don’t stop!and FYI, you should expect an attack on your faith in this area; it is God allowing you to be tested and to be grown. You could be special forces someday!

Love you all and I speak a blessing of great faith come to all those who have read this! Blessings to you my family, in Jesus name, let it be! All Glory to God!!!

Being the hands and feet of Jesus

We want to brag for a moment on the love of the Father, which has been pouring out from so many generous folks at The Barn!  YOU--The Barn, have been showing the love of Christ over the past several weeks and it has manifested in you all being the hands and feet of Jesus right here in our local communities, our region and even the world!

It is because of your humility, generosity, and intentional true love, that each and every one of you have been able to help feed dozens of individuals and families in our local area, as well as provide much needed financial assistance through The Barn Storehouse program.  Many of you have also physically volunteered and helped distribute food at two local ministries, Spero House and Redbud Area Ministries.  Because of your efforts, we now have accounts at two local grocery stores in the event our essential Barn family members need immediate assistance.  We also have a partnership with Feed The Hungry who has been able to provide food assistance by the vanload!

Take a look at what God has done through The Barn family:  You have raised several thousand dollars in funds, which has helped some of our own members as well as individuals in the community with food, medicine, and assistance with essential bills.  You have raised $1,000 which provided immediate food relief for families in Uganda, Africa where many are unable to obtain even the barest necessities.  You also raised over $700 cash in less than three hours which provided immediate assistance to a struggling family who not only couldn’t afford life-saving medicine, but also had absolutely no food in their cupboards.  This family was in tears when they saw not one or two, but SIX boxes of food delivered to their doorstep!  Our God is the God of abundance!  Your financial donations have also made it possible to bless Lakeland, our local hospital, and a long term care facility in Niles, with pizza for their hard- working staff as well as personal protection equipment, such as masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.

As always, it is such a blessing and honor to be a part of your family here at The Barn!  The Barn belongs to each and every one of you who call it home.  Each of you are a significant part of God’s plans upon the Earth today!  Whether it’s networking and making contacts, physically assisting others, generously giving funds, or praying...we are all working together to serve God’s beloved!  May you all receive a returned blessing one hundred fold in every area of your lives!  We see you, we are with you, and we want to help you achieve all that God wants to do in your life!  We love you all, and have a great week!!

It’s About Responsibility!

It’s about Responsibility!

  • Father, family, unity

  • Forgive, Forget, Forge Forward!

  • Serve where you’re needed till you can serve where you want!

  • Culture of Honor

There is so much pressure and emphasis put on doing our own thing, or kids doing their thing- especially in such competing spirits- I truly believe it has harmed our spiritual makeup. We were made to help each other and serve each other.

A great way we can strengthen our marriages and relationships with our kids is to get involved in a service oriented endeavor! When the whole family has a common goal and is involved in helping out our neighbors, community, local governments etc., we not only change the world around us, we change our own hearts and we revive a blessing that is priceless though intangible. We will have better hearts and understanding about who we are made to be. That’s the self worth and realization we, and our families, need!

Deep inside of each of us is a need to be part of something that innately helps each other. The more we can foster and implement that, the more we find peace and fulfillment. Those are the keys to successful living and a life of satisfaction. Everything else is just filler and false hope. Self gratification will leave us feeling empty and hollow and hungry for more, because it didn’t complete our makeup!

Find a place to get involved as a family and serve again; this will bring you a common cause! Serve with your whole heart. Let your kids see you working together. Lastly I recommend a Christian centered and oriented organization at least for the bulk of what you do. Christian principles and faith are the greatest way to help create a cornerstone that you can continue to build on because faith is the other side of the coin we and the world needs to find complete hope. Don’t let the haters fool you; nothing is perfect- but Christian faith brings the greatest level of personal freedom and love toward our fellow mankind. It always will. And it has changed the world for good more than all other faiths combined!

What do The Barn leaders have in common with steak?

Well, what makes a great steak? It is “a cut above the rest!” So, too, Barn leaders are the best of the best! Simply put, The Barn leaders have shown and exemplified characteristics and traits that meet the standards of the Barn.

So, what are these standards? I wanted to share some thoughts here.  Some of these standards have been written down in our “Barn beliefs” and our “Seeds” on-boarding documents. Some of them are unwritten culture rules that we naturally convey and display.  There are so many more to add, but here are my top ten thoughts regarding the leadership qualities all Barn leadership should share:

1. Barn leaders have the complete assurance of the reality of God’s presence. Leaders know that He is really with them and working through them. They are in a constant love-walk with Jesus, the groom. Barn leaders desire to bring Him glory by exemplifying His actions and His commands to love God with all their heart, strength and mind and to love others as themselves! They understand the vision/mission of The Barn and they work hard to bring it about in their everyday lives, at all service times and within all functions of The Barn! “They shall know us by our love for one another!”

2.  Leaders of The Barn take on more responsibility and they give up rights! These individuals understand and accept the call of God on their life. It is easy to lay down rights when something could cause a brother or sister to be tempted or fall (ie drinking alcohol, etc).  Barn leaders become all things to all people so that they might win some for God! They guard others’ pride by being the humble ones themselves until those who are weaker are strong enough to walk in complete victory!

3.  Servant leaders: The Barn is huge on servant leadership. We are leading from the bottom; having a committed heart to love those at every level by embracing all chores and tasks in service. Servant leaders give in any area they are needed—nothing is beneath us! These leaders serve faithfully until God opens the doors to their next steps! This principle is ultimately the heart of humility.  It is foundational to the leadership of The Barn!

      4.  Leaders of The Barn are not competitive or fearful that another may take their place when serving alongside them in a ministry (ie. hospitality, janitorial-even preaching and speaking). Leaders of The Barn understand the principles of growth and the concept of preparing for the future. Barn leaders know that there is always room for others to serve alongside them-  it is the true “small group”. They embrace, help, teach and share the load with others, creating teams and empowering others to serve!!! They encourage growth and excellence on their ministry teams, helping to coordinate and connect from within the ministry to ensure that each member feels connected and part of the family!

5.  Barn leaders understand and embrace The Barn Family priority plan! Leaders know that connecting with one another on a deeper level is what Christ commands of The Church. True family comes by investing in one another’s lives, being willing to get messy, surrounding one another in prayer, and supporting and forgiving each other as Christ has called. Leaders extend The Barn’s sense of family beyond mere service times and are invested in one another outside of the physical walls of The Barn and it’s services.

      6.  They understand the principle of “working themselves out of a job!” Our highest priority as leaders is to raise up others and replace ourselves so that we can be freed up to move on and grow in our calls. This is how we can grow, start new ministries and provide support to others who need it!  Here is a great example: Imagine someone who is serving faithfully in hospitality or janitorial. This individual can see the janitorial team is growing to the point they are fully equipped and no longer in need of this person’s service. It’s awesome! This person has known that their true calling is not there, in janitorial- it is in the prophetic and prayer! The leaders over them have identified this call and conveyed they have been faithful in their tasks- they agree that God is leading this person to move into their true calling. This individual recognizes that God is calling them to make a move from janitorial to the prayer team - and because janitorial is being well covered, they make the transition.  Despite the switch to a new team this individual never considers where they came from “off limits” and is always willing to dip back into janitorial when and if it is needed, always maintaining the servant’s heart!

      7.  Leaders of the Barn are generous and giving. They believe in and follow the revealed will of God in the principles of tithing and giving. They follow the lead of all F5 and give cheerfully—never begrudgingly. They are faithful and consistent to give their full tithe into the house which they call home (The Barn), to prosper the work being done within. Barn leaders also have a generous heart to give offerings over and above their tithe to ministry staff inside the barn or outside of the barn as God leads, to prosper the work of the Lord being done elsewhere as well.   Note: offerings over and above the tithe can be as little as a penny or as high as one can afford - always as God has lead to give. We believe there is a special blessing upon any offering! They understand that you cannot out-give God!

8. Leaders show that they understand humility by admitting and embracing their need for personal growth and leadership development—no matter their age or position! These individuals lead by example. They understand that we never arrive and the journey requires constant adjustments— these really are adjustments of the heart!!!

      9.  Barn leaders serve well because they “own” what they are involved in. These individuals view their service “as unto the Lord!” They see the bigger picture and desire to help make every area great! These leaders see the duality of service: helping others and helping themselves. They lend a hand to their brothers and sisters wherever and whenever needed because ultimately it’s also helping themselves!! The weakest links are not competency or capacity-oriented, the weakest links are pride and arrogance!

   10. Leaders of the Barn embrace the heart and culture of Excellence vs. Perfection. They are authentic and transparent. They embrace that we each are exactly who God made us to be. We are not perfect and we never will be. It is Christ alone who makes us good therefore we must never think more highly of ourselves than we should!! We never think less of others- especially those we lead! Barn leaders want to better themselves as an expression of love for God and our fellow man/woman. These individuals desire to serve well -not to be the best amongst their peers, beating out others in competition. No, we want to be the best for the good and love of God and others- in fact we applaud when someone else can do a job better than us!

Okay, here’s a bonus one for you (LOL):

11.  We live by a Culture of Honor so that when someone fails we remind them of who they are instead of what they’ve done. And we avoid false humility, serving for the sake of “being seen”! Leaders of the Barn do not serve for pleasure of accolades- we serve out of our love for God and to bring Him honor and fame!! We do this by being His hands and feet both inside the house and outside! We always guard and check our hearts making sure we don’t let pride creep in to rob us of the blessings which true humility brings!

I pray that this list, though long, will sink deep in your hearts and resonate with what you feel Christ has called you to here at The Barn. I hold these principles dear to my heart and many of these ideas have been learned through my own years of service to the Church.  I’ve made a TON of mistakes to get here and I’m sure many of you have wisdom that you can add to this list as well. We know that each of you, and therefore The Barn as a whole, will excel because of your humble, owner's hearts!!

Thank you for embracing your call!!

Shane, Kara and all of the five-fold team!

The Slip of Routine and Habit

In my prayers God showed me how just like anything- including our marriages- it is common for our actions of love to wain and slip through routine and habit. At some point we don’t “feel” the emotion as strong as it once was when we did the same things. And so we often just stop doing them. Those actions get filled up with busy “work”. And soon the relationship suffers because those actions are the lifeblood and nutrients to the relationship itself. It is impossible to maintain that relationship with those actions!

We begin to act out of feeling instead of obligation. And yes, it is true obligation can lead to serving in a way we no longer want to. So what is it that moves us to doing those actions out of obligation to a heart of “a cheerful giver”?  It is time spent one on one in the other person's presence, seeking their eyes and listening to them breathe and speak. It is a heart posture that STIRS up to remembrance “I take you as my wife/husband above everyone else and no one will be like you to me.” Sometimes we have to serve out of obligation or tradition, if you will. In those times, we have to remember they are worthy and deserving of our actions and we swore an oath of LOYALTY to them- for richer or poorer, in sickness and health- to LOVE them.

How much more so to our God and creator? As His soon-to-be-bride we should be keeping our lamps trimmed.  We should be keeping our traditions of letting Him know we are His by seeking our lovers eyes and face. We need to make special time to be alone with Him, in His presence showing Him that we are listening for His every breath and His voice is our delight!  That is why I always bow before Him whenever I get the chance. He is worthy of such respect and tradition, so we must be careful not to confuse the term “that is religious” with a totally negative mindset. HE IS WORTHY OF SUCH ACTION MY FELLOW MEMBERS OF THE BRIDE!  Seek His Presence, but don’t let feelings keep you from our duty of honor to Him. Let’s us be found first loving Him well, and second, loving each other well. No body that is healthy fights against itself. Let’s encourage one another and bolster one another to seek Him and to keep the love alive.  Let us always serve Him in actions of worship, even if it is also out of tradition, because He is worthy of it either way and that is true agape love! He didn’t feel like dying on the cross... but He did it!!

I hope this all makes sense. I’m sure you will have some insight to add. I can’t wait to hear it!  Love you all, have a great day!

Loyalty, Honor, Duty by Shane McLean

In prayer I was asking God about how we should continue to build the foundations and works He has started and lead us to in and at, The Barn. I was feeling lead and thinking about honor and duty as primary foundational keys and how I could see the positives of those in people's lives. We’ve all heard of honor above all. In kind, I was thinking duty and how duty has been the outward marker of one’s core values and beliefs, the visible expression of our faith to the world.

As I was thinking on these- and felt His leading to do so- He, as often does, lead me to another topic which I had not thought of. Quite away from the topics of honor and duty, it was highlighted, if you will, above and apart from them. That point/topic was loyalty. He told me more important than honor is loyalty! He said honor is great and will carry us through to many a place we desire to go- honor is the vehicle. But loyalty is the destination and the destination has to remain paramount above all else. The vehicle of honor may change at times; it could be a bicycle or a tank. But loyalty will not change!

Loyalty, you see, is the point of reference we use to establish our bearings; our plans and actions will flow from our loyalties! Loyalty stands and guides when we may be tempted to keep honor in a way that leads to self pride. Loyalty calls for forgiveness and long suffering, when honor may scream uphold our dignity at all cost. Loyalty may ask us to lay ourselves down in mercy for someone who is at fault, in fact at times it will, when honor may cry out JUSTICE ALONE!

We are to be loyal to Christ as our source and Head above all other men/women. While we may have leaders, they should always demonstrate and communicate that we as men are all fallible and prone to mistakes. With that said, we should be able to see continued growth in a lifestyle of Christlikeness as that reveals maturity, wisdom, and a deep relationship with Jesus.  Loyalties should extend in a way that promotes unity and love to one another in His body, starting with our personal families and extending through to our ministry/church families and out to the whole family of His body!

In this next great move- if we are to accomplish any great work for the Lord- we will need to be onboard with His plan for unity of the body!

I’m not saying I have all or even most of the details on this but I do believe this is crucial and key to our success in this present age where the “church” is very fractured. Yes, please pray and seek God’s will and mind for your perspective on this as well. It’s all of our unique perspectives that bring the WHOLE picture to life!

Adulting Vs. Faith

This is kind of a hard concept to understand but only for the adult mind. As adults we tend to overthink EVERYTHING; we are jaded by “life experience”; but God plainly stated that unless we become as little children we cannot see Heaven or Him!

Many who profess to be Christian have confused faith with pretending! Both are acting like something we DON’T have now, is real. But one believes the invisible thing they hope for is real or really coming. While the other is acknowledged by playing a game of self deception, i.e., when we pour pretend tea for our friends. But if you believe the Bible, faith is the evidence of things UNSEEN, things HOPED for!

So what makes us ready to see Him? He told me this morning to look at the first state of the apostles, each one a sinner, each one in the depth of the dirtiness of life as fisherman, tax collectors, etc. But each one was approached and encountered Christ in person, in the flesh! We ascribe some high level worthiness to each of these people as “Saints”, but what if the reason He approached them was that they each had a very childlike heart, simple mindedness, in essence, BIG KIDS!

Today, I now believe that is why they were chosen. It is precisely this attitude of childlike faith that I see is necessary and is easily conformed and transformed into Christ likeness. You will never be able to be like Christ in any high minded academic superiority as any of that apart from the spirit of God is less than useless. Paul said so. In fact, he said “I count it all as dung!”

We must maintain the wonder and trust of a child. If we don’t, we drift into religion which is death and lacks the power of personal encounter and relationship with Jesus. How could you ever imagine as an adult you could meet Jesus for real in the flesh now today unless you had the Faith as a little child? You can’t! Jesus is real. He has a real physical body right now. He is also God and can appear to us if He desires and He said we must have the faith of a little child and without faith it is impossible to please Him! And He said there is great faith and little faith. So great faith must be more childlike, more believing, more trusting!

He said a lot of things in His word. I believe He said what He meant and meant what He said. Yet many today through “theological” learning are farther from believing and trusting in the very things He did and said we would do, because they don’t see it today. They don’t see it in themselves or others they are raising up so they make excuses and reasons why it doesn’t work. They make new statements of “faith”, leaving behind many of the powerful spiritual concepts that would revolutionize the Christian faith, like healing the sick! Remember, Jesus and the apostles healed all who came to them even their shadows falling on people brought healing!

When we can hear this and be excited in great hope, great belief, great trust and faith as a child again and not overthink it, or be embarrassed by it, we will start to see it again! It is coming and God is preparing the hearts of many right now to once again go forth and bring deliverance to the captives and sight to the blind, etc!

It’s time to trust God and let His word be the simple gospel again. And if we don’t see what it says happening, we need to look to Him and ask why- not because it’s his fault but because WE are missing something! You’ll find it’s most likely some mindset that is hindering us from receiving. So how is your walk? Where are you on the journey of faith? Are you stuck in adulting or ,are you headed to the funzone with Jesus? It’s so fun when we can rest and trust and believe simply because He said it, so I can do it! Let’s practice this till we get it right!

Have a great day!

Embracing A Culture Of Honor; A Look into How it Works

We all know people in our lives who do stupid things, and the truth is we all are those people at times in others lives. But what is it that when we see someone down or struggling makes us want to sabotage them, ourselves, God’s kingdom, by spreading word of their “dastardly deeds”?

So many times when others fail we want to “tell the world”! We want the to be “corrected”, punished if you will! We want to see them sink in their own failings and “learn their lesson!”! But is that really what God wants?

I’m not saying we won’t experience or shouldn’t experience consequences. I’m a firm believer in consequences. What I’ve learned though is God is a God of mercy! God said LOVE covers a MULTITUDE of SIN. What covers the multitude of sin? LOVE DOES! And what does that look like? Well, let’s look first at the greatest example, Jesus!

His love covered us all, all of our sin!! The multitude of it. He said “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do!” He loves us today in spite of the fact that we are not perfect. His love covers us and makes us perfect to be able to remain in Gods family.

So I ask you, when those closest to you, or your friends, or your ministry family, or your pastors, OR ANYONE... when you see them struggling or caught in sin, do YOU forgive them? DO you help them up? Do you cover their “nakedness” of sin? Jesus said “they will know you by your love for one another.”

So this culture of honor works like this; someone is taken in sin, they’ve messed up! We help them, in love, to see what they have done. If there is a repentant heart along with a willingness to clean up the mess, to those who KNOW about it, we help them go to those people and just apologize and repent. We don’t spread the word of their sin, to other areas that have not heard, we cover them! Why give the enemy more ground than he’s taken himself?

Then, when all this has happened (this is best case scenario obviously) we restore that person in honor from where they fell. Sure, we may discuss with them and those aware of situation/s how we can circumvent this from happening again. This generally involves some inner healing on the part of the one who did the sinning. Additionally, there is some form of personal accountability as well and a personal growth plan for that area of their lives. And, we all get to learn from this!

This really is about family and humility and the fact that none of us are perfect. Grace in real love saves the day! So I hope when someone you know is taken in sin and falls down before you get to sharing the “news” you’ll stop and remember is this what God did to you? Let’s put the fires of the enemy out and honor Him and those who He has died for. Be his hands my family! Love you all, have a great day.

Pregnancy and Birth Pains

We recognized God romancing us; we followed Him into His Holy Chambers; we embraced Him and we became pregnant with the heart of Gods love for our region! Recently we gave birth. After much travail, we labored and birthed the next season of our ministry! It is more than an incredible honor to serve people; it is an incredible honor to recognize that we truly are HIS BRIDE! You want to know who will be walking in power and inheriting the earth? Peacemakers. Peacemakers will be inheriting the earth, family and friends. True humility in the seeking of unity will be the very first stepping stones God will be revealing to those who are His Bride!

He said He is returning for a Bride without spot and blemish. What could create spots and blemish on something that is HIS? Well, what did He say was the greatest gift of all? LOVE! And He said they will know you by your love for one another not your love for Him; your love for one another! The time of competition mentality is over. The time of fear and church as a business will soon be coming to an end! He has declared "in this next great move I will reveal myself as Father like never before, I will return Family back to the church, and I will blur the lines of denomination through Unity!" These are the three mandates of The Barn (formerly Friday Night Light).

God has told us He is done with corporate church and He is done with church as a business even if it has an element of family. He said "it is to be a Family with an element of business." He showed us "the family model" and He told us "this model must permeate every aspect and minor ministry of The Barn, if we ever loose it we will become just another religious organization!"

The Barn is marching forward, dancing in the Hand of our Groom! We have embraced the heart of the Father and we are determined to be servant leaders to the churches around us and even the world. We are determined to love the samaritans, to see His body as one body with many organs functioning together! We are sold out to submitting ourselves one to another and determined to let the loyalty of Family reign, even in hard times. God is doing a new thing, that's really a return to the old. All those who adhere to old ways that have created walls, division, fear and separation will come crashing down with the removal of these old mindsets. He is hitting the reset button and the word on that button is UNITY! Anything that doesn't jive with this new model will be wiped away like dust from a glorious gold crown.

He told me recently, "I (God) am not trying to mesh My Kingdom with earth; I am going to make new foundations where old have existed. Only My foundations will hold the heaven to earth model!" You will see this happening everywhere more and more; its nothing we have to try to do, God is doing it! Just like what's happening at The Barn is to no humans credit, It is the Lords alone, the days of the one man show are over! At His leading we have embraced a five-fold spiritual steering leadership model as well as many other coverings of counsel and accountability. Again, I will tell you, Humility will lead the way to the next steps in the next great move. I believe this is the entrance into the later rain, spoken of in His word. It is the purifying of the true remnant who are pioneering the way for a great harvest of souls in the days to come. They are the lowly bricks the harvest will tread upon to reach HIM! The Barn is only one of many who are hearing this call, a call to come and follow Him! WILL YOU DROP YOUR NETS AND COME AND FOLLOW HIM?

We are excited more than ever to see where this next season is taking us and we are seeking our Grooms desires. We want to know Him more and be known by Him! Join us any Friday as we deeply show our love for Him or join us any Sunday as we turn to Him and embrace His love for us, its all about encountering HIM, one moment with Him changes us forever!

Blessings and love,
Shane and Kara

Power Failure

Power failure

God spoke to me this morning and said look up Matthew 16:16.

When it storms and the lights go out, we reach for flashlights and candles. We make certain we have light to see by. We go to great lengths to prepare for such events to have those things ready in advance for their use.

Sometimes there is an extended power outage. We go and get gas to cook food and generators to “make” power so we can have the amenities that power brings to our lives which we have determined we won’t do with out!

And if we lived in an area where power wouldn’t be restored for many months- or ever- many/most people would move away temporarily or forever to relocate somewhere that power was available all the time. Why? Because we’ve decide it is a must have!

Now, I’d like you to look at the church please. Jesus not only told us about the power; He showed us the power! He told Peter in Matthew 16 that He was giving him power to loose and bind on the earth to heal the sick etc. But, we rarely see this in the church anymore! The church is in a state of third world country when it comes to power but everyone seems fine with it! That is sad.

No one is seeking to fix this; no one is asking the leaders why; no one is demanding to see the power; no one is relocating to find it! We have accepted mindsets that, to be powerless in this area of our lives, is just what it is. And we have beloved a lie!

God wants to move in demonstration of power and might. He wants to show the world who He is just like He did with Jesus. That was His revealed will! Jesus said if you’ve seen Me you’ve seen the Father; the works I do He commanded Me! He charged the disciples to do the same and said wait until your endued with power!

But the church is just sitting in squalor, going about their poverty stricken ways barely getting by and crying and complaining about their needs. They want SUPERNATURAL but they aren’t willing to put forth the effort to get! They would move all of their earthly possessions to have electricity but they won’t spend three hours seeking to fix their supernatural power problem. They won’t move to find a place where power is restored and consistent.

The power we seek is not in this world. We will need to go get it from heaven. We will have to journey there in prayer and by spending extended time seeking His presence! But before any of that can happen we will need to believe it’s available and we will need to believe we NEED IT! It will come when our hearts so love Jesus that we cry out for His presence and nothing else will do! His presence is the key to freedom from sin and sickness. His presence is the power, His Holy Spirit!

Supernatural power is a necessary byproduct from the outflow of seeking His presence and finding it. God is raising up a remnant who are re-pioneering the seeking of Himself and carrying His power to the world. He Wants to demonstrate His love for the world!

Keep the reality of the honor and privilege it is to know we understand this! In Matthew 16:16, the scripture God told me to look up, Jesus asks the disciples who do you say I am? Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And in verse 17, Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.”

Let’s seek His presence, that is our call. Don’t forget Jesus had them wait at first. They could have been out running around but they were seeking the best Gifts and waiting to be endued with power! Don’t be distracted by what we’re “NOT” doing compared with the rest of the world. We are called to do THIS. And even if it looks like just waiting, it’s what He’s called us to do! People need the power of God, not humanitarianism. People need true freedom from sin and healing from sickness. God has many doing that but He’s called US to this.
